NHSaves Utility Partners Help Granite State Break into ACEEE Top 20
The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) released its 2019 State Energy Efficiency Scorecard today, and New Hampshire has moved up in the rankings.
The ACEEE scorecard serves as a benchmark of state energy policy and progress, ranking states based on 32 metrics in six key areas. New Hampshire jumped one spot to No. 20 among the 50 states and the District of Columbia.
New Hampshire increased its score in three areas: Utilities, State Government and Transportation. Through the NHSaves partnership, New Hampshire’s utilities (Eversource, Liberty Utilities, New Hampshire Electric Co-op and Unitil) offer customers information, incentives and support designed to save energy, reduce costs and protect the environment.
“It is exciting to be a part of New Hampshire’s Top 20 ranking, which is a testament to the state for recognizing the economic and environmental value energy efficiency delivers to families, businesses, and communities across the region and beyond,” says Eversource Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer Penni Conner.
Energy efficiency is the measurement that combines the savings from appliance and equipment efficiency standards, utility-sector energy efficiency programs, and building energy codes, and is considered the third largest electricity resource in the United States.
“With the State of New Hampshire adding new resources to make energy efficiency a top priority in the coming years, there is nowhere to go but up,” Conner says. “We are proud to work with our customers every day to help reduce their usage, lower energy bills and create healthier and more comfortable spaces to live and work.”
