New Hampshire Earns National Recognition For Residential Energy Saving Programs

The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) today announced that NHSaves has received Exemplary Energy Efficiency Program awards for its income-eligible Home Energy Assistance and its Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® programs in New Hampshire. Both programs are provided by NHSaves collaborators Eversource, Liberty Utilities, New Hampshire Electric Co-op and Unitil in coordination with the NH Office of Strategic Initiatives, the NH Community Action Agencies and NH weatherization contractors.

“Home Energy Assistance and Home Performance with ENERGY STAR are fuel-neutral weatherization programs that help New Hampshire homeowners and renters reduce their energy bills, improve their home’s energy performance, and enhance its durability and comfort,” said Eversource Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer Penni Conner. “It is an honor to be recognized by ACEEE as we continue to work with all of our partners to help our customers save money and protect our planet.”

The national review by ACEEE evaluates utilities across the country and recognizes exemplary programs for direct customer energy savings, cost effectiveness, market impacts, customer service, innovation, transferability/replicability and expansion potential.

The Home Energy Assistance and Home Performance with ENERGY STAR programs were recognized for their comprehensive and streamlined approach, cost-effectiveness and successful relationships with trade allies and organizations across the state, including contractors, New Hampshire Community Action Agencies and the New Hampshire Office of Strategic Initiatives.

One happy customer includes David Singer of Berlin. “Everybody is happy with the insulation and energy modifications done to our new home,” said Singer. “I found the team to be excellent, pleasant to work with, and worthy of recommendation. I am a happy customer, and have been explaining to my friends the benefits of participating in this program.”

Both programs provide customers with an in-home energy audit to determine comprehensive recommendations for energy efficiency improvements. Home Performance with ENERGY STAR is provided at a low cost, with incentives and low-interest financing available to perform the improvement measures. Home Energy Assistance is provided free of charge to income-eligible customers.

Energy savings measures that both programs provide include: air sealing, insulation, high efficiency lighting, low-flow showerheads, faucet aerators, programmable and/or wi-fi thermostats, hot water pipe insulation, duct sealing, refrigerator replacements, hot water temperature setback, and a variety of health and safety measures, as well as end-of-life heating system replacement.
