Background
The Fisher Cats are a Minor League Baseball team, playing at the Delta Dental Stadium since 2005. Renovated in 2017, the ballpark serves as a home base for 70 games and a venue for numerous community events and concerts each year. It has a 6,500-person capacity and includes 32 luxury suites and a live music stage.
Challenge
The project team sought to maximize energy efficiency, lower operational costs, and improve temperature regulation throughout the stadium and its newly renovated offices to offer improved comfort for employees and maintain a family-friendly atmosphere for the thousands of fans that attend each game. Additionally, some of these upgrades – such as the new field lights – will help to ensure that the stadium meets Major League Baseball PDL standards.
Results
- Weatherization: Optimized temperature regulation, future-proofed the stadium, and improved comfort for guests and employees.
- Lighting updates: Replaced 94 field light fixtures and over 900 interior lights.
- Cost savings: Maximized energy efficiency while realizing over $71,000 in annual cost savings.

Eversource incentivized over $170,000 in energy efficiency upgrades to meet the Fisher Cats team’s goals for improved stadium operations.
- 4 phases of LED lighting upgrades, including 94 exterior field lighting fixtures, and additional exterior and interior fixture replacement in office spaces
- 5 new rooftop units
- 31 high efficiency heat pump units for individualized heating solutions installed throughout the stadium
- Wall and ceiling insulation, including air sealing, in office spaces and locker rooms
