Webinar Series
Workshop 1: Energy Benchmarking and Understanding Utility Bills
Description: Understanding utility bills and benchmarking energy consumption is critical to effectively managing costs and consumption. This webinar explores EPA’s Portfolio Manager and custom benchmarking tools while introducing concepts around energy use intensity (EUI), weather normalization, and trend analysis. Utility bill analysis focuses on typical commercial electric rates and will break down individual rate components into distribution versus supply components, and demand versus energy.
Workshop 2: Energy Auditing 101
Description: The first step of most energy projects is an energy audit. This webinar covers the typical energy audit process focusing on the phased progression of ASHRAE Level 1 (scoping) audits through ASHRAE Level 3 (investment grade) audits. GDS’ Senior Engineer discusses specific approaches to conducting ASHRAE Level 1 (scoping) assessments and the types of energy conservation opportunities commonly encountered in New Hampshire commercial buildings. Attendees will learn how to conduct Level 1 assessments and how to leverage NHSaves technical assistance and rebates to move projects forward.
Workshop 3: Energy and Water Measurement Verification
Description: You can’t manage what you can’t measure… This webinar will build on the energy auditing discussion to discuss measurement and verification techniques. Topics include the importance of metering in establishing energy and water use baselines as well as the types of metering most commonly deployed to support energy monitoring and analyses. Temporary versus permanent metering will be discussed in the context of real‐world applications.
Workshop 4: Optimizing the Use of Energy Management Systems (EMS)
Description: Energy management systems can provide a wealth of data for energy managers but are often underutilized or not fully understood. This webinar presenstan overview of energy management systems and the typical opportunities for optimization that GDS engineers look for when working with energy managers. The process of retro‐commissioning of existing systems will be discussed. The role of NHSaves technical assistance support and incentives to support energy conservation in commercial and municipal facilities will be highlighted.
Workshop 5: Smart Buildings – Industry Trends
Description: This webinar explores emerging trends in commercial buildings around topics of electrification, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure and ‘readiness’, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) applications to demand side management, and battery storage. Continuous or monitor based commissioning and management of behind the meter distributed energy resources was discussed.
